Where has the year gone

OK Sonya did get me a digital camera. And I did start taking pictures. But... in a moment of helpfulness they were accidentally erased before I found out how to download them. Soooo.. Once I get over the old phobia of losing something I will start again. I remember taking 13 rolls of pictures in South America and the Galapagos Islands and having them stolen before I got home thus ending my life as a photographer. My other big loss was when my computer crashed when I was trying to back up my genealogy entries and I lost the program and the back up copy thus ending my career as a family researcher. Now I reflect. More later.

Bees

Help, we are being attacked by killer bees! Or at least some kind of bees in our bathroom. No, they are in the window, no, in the eaves - they are everywhere. Actually we have removed them from the eaves and they had a most beautiful home. I will send it to Susan who will "know what to do with it." The ones in the bathroom window are in such a narrow place there will not be any way to get out a big piece.

The mouse in the garage, that ate over a thousand dollars worth of the truck, loves cheese and peanut butter sandwiches. We tried to get him outside to release him but he was too quick for us. So now he is dead.

One of the snakes got caught in the minnow trap. He is also dead.

One of the groundhogs got caught in the trap. Jeff came over and shot him. So he is dead.

We came here to live with and observe the wildlife and now I feel like a murderer, and a traitor besides. I thought we had an understanding with them - people inside, animals outside - but I was wrong.

Soon I will learn how to post pictures.

We're in Germany!

If the truth must be known, Susan, my eldest daughter is posing as me for this post and the last two. She has created this blog while my husband Henry and I were visiting her younger sister Wanda in Germany. Wanda has a blog too...Susan created it as well. Wanda took over the maintenance of her blog and posted about our visit here.

Who am I?

My name is Linda. Above is a photo taken on New Year's Eve in Harmony, Pennsylvania. The photographer was from the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. My husband Henry and I were wearing our Austrian loden coats and matching hats for the German New Year's celebration. We bought them in Austria...over the many years in which we've lived there. We started a summer studies program to Salzburg, Austria in 1964. Our youngest daughter Sonya still runs it.

On New Year's Eve, our eldest daughter Susan and her husband Steve were with us. Susan took the photo above.

We live outside Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania on a large tract of land with a ten-acre lake. We feed the birds in the winter...even these turkeys.

This is a view of our log cabin...as seen from the back.

Here is a picture of our porch with a view to the wintry lake.

Announcing my first blog!

This is my first....and most likely, last....BLOG! It has been created in order to participate in my daughter's upcoming exhibition, CYBER FYBER!
